Fund Raiser Tee Shirts
Now On Sale!
Help support our trip to Ireland in 2010 for our IMA tournament being held there. Each tee shirt sold will have the profit being set aside for students going over to compete in Ireland from our gym. As an added bonus all the students that buy a tee shirt will be allowed to wear it at each of the classes in August rather than your regular uniform top. To the Mom's and Dad's you can still buy one as well as your child that is training to help support those going over in 2010.
Thanks for the support!
Demo on August 1st.
For
Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Department.
Students interested in being in the demo see Master M. Carson and he will give you the training times. All students no matter your belt ranking or age are invited to be in the demo. The funds from this demo will help rebuild the fire house that was damaged in a fire early this year.
The place of the demo is Davenport school and it will b at 7 PM Friday August 1st. Also there will be an ad-book which you can put in a small ad wishing your child or parent good luck.
The next fighting class will be starting soon with Mr. W. Dix in the new Center. The dates and times will be posted on the web site and announced in all classes so keep looking.
News Spot:
Well the first few classes have been held in the new rec center and though it is a bit different than what we did in the old center it has so many more attrobutes to enjoy. The training areas have rubber floors that are like gym floors which are better for students legs. Then more towards the instructors that teach the classes they don't have to move tables and chairs to open the training areas any more. The center is also new and be assured we are going to have some growing pains yet to work out but for the most part it is a great improvement over what we had in the past.
Congratulations to the following students promoted to different levels of Black Belt. Remember gaining 1st Degree Black Belt is only starting a new level of training and skill so I hope that you will keep moving towards Master with me.
5th Degree Black Belt: Master Pat Carson and Master Chuck Vertolli.
3rd Degree Black Belt: Mr. Robert Barrett and Mr. Mitch Polun.
2nd Degree Black Belt: Karen Dimacale, Donna Papaycik and Christine Papaycik.
1st Degree Black Belt: Tom Carson III, Renee Polun, Dale Collins, Kate Evans, Paul Treen, Raymond Dudo, Joseph Michelett, Nicholas Lenzi, Aclrianna Deebold and Josh Faust.
On the web site thought, I have gotten a second web address for our gym's web site. The new address is yisbddmc.com. I am hoping this is an easy address to remember and that more students will read the site for other news and information going forward. The old address is still active if you had book marked the site in the past.

Thunder colors and with gym logo Black, Blue, Red, Pink and White. Lighting colors; Black, Blue, Red, Silver and White. (This brand does not come with gym logo)
Also new are IMA tee shirts with association patch and International Martial Arts written in Korean on the front.
We are going to have these items plus more listed on our web site starting some time late this month so take a look at our web site later in the month for this new page. See
Your instructors for items and prices right now.
There are DVD, video tapes and one step books that can be ordered. See your instructor or look for and order these items off the web site at www.imahq.net.
A new item that is available is the embroidered uniforms for students. The cost is being worked out now and for the moment it is about $125.00 for the
Uniform and embroidering completed. These uniforms are the 12 or 14 ounce canvas uniforms. Grand Master Yi has one now and likes the look. This new uniform is taking about three to four weeks to get in and finished so order early!

Info and Facts for all:
New Skills Review Info:
There will be four stations for the students reviews as follows; 1. Forms and Weapons forms, 2. Area with questions on knowledge and Korean terms, 3. Basics, Combo and Breaking, 4. One-steps, free sparring and self defense..
Time for each station and number of students; Each group will be at their station ten minutes and then rotate to the next area. The group will be made up of five students of the same rank or as close as possible.
Scoring will be done by the judges at each station. There will be either two or three Black Belts at each station one being a Master. All of the judges will review all of the students within the group and will agree on a score for each student together.
The student will not be corrected during the skills review any longer but the corrections will be noted on that student’s form and the student will receive their form back within a week after the review of all the forms and the promotions will be posted after the forms are returned to the students.
I am hoping that this will allow a better review of the students and to show us where a need for work is at. In the forms area we will be asking each student for their highest two forms and then two lower forms they should know. In the weapons area the highest form only. In the station doing one-steps the student is required to do their highest three one-steps with control and power. The judges may ask for two lower one-steps if time permits. On the one steps children learn three hand movements at white belt and at yellow belt three kick movements then as they move up in ranking three new hands or kick movements are added alternately. So it would be the ones at that level they are required to know. Adults are the same accept they learn six hands or six kick movements at each belt ranking.
